Surgiram em 1964 e abalaram o mundo com suas apresentações agitadas, quebrando tudo no palco. Para quem só ouviu falar mas tem curiosidade em descobrir a sonoridade do The Who, este é o álbum que eu recomendo: Who's Next.
O álbum conta com o maior sucesso deles: ''Baba O' Riley'' e com ''Behind Blue Eyes'', que ficou conhecida pela nova geração após o Cover do Limp Bizkit.
Na época do lançamento de Who's Next, em 1971, antes da chegada dos sintetizadores musicais, surgiram novos apetrechos tratando-se da engenharia de som, o psicodelismo estava em alta, era o que mandava no início dos anos 70. A distorção não era tão pesada, mas para os padrões dos anos 60 e 70 soava bem pesado e isso nos leva a um mundo diferente, no qual o estilo de composição era completamente diferente do das décadas seguintes. Who's Next foi o último suspiro dos anos 60 no rock n' roll, apesar de seu lançamento ser em 1971.
Não posso deixar de citar o lendário (Ou lunático) baterista Keith Moon (The Loon) que, na minha opinião, forma o trio de melhores bateristas que o rock já teve ao lado de Neil Peart e John Bonham.
